This half term our Topic is 'Explorers'
We start our exploring adventure by enjoying a pumpkin investigation as Halloween and Bonfire night is approaching. We will also be celebrating Bonfire Night and the festival of Lights, Diwali Year One is going to sparkle as we make candles, Rangoli patterns and Bonfire and firework pictures using natural materials and everything that glitters!. We then get very much colder as we explore the season of Winter and learn about a very cold place Antarctica and the Arctic region.We will dress up warmly to learn about the famous explorer Scott of the Antarctica. In Art we will be making Winter scarves by the skill of weaving and creating our own Arctic animals. We will challenge problem solving skills by designing and making an igloo for a penguin and choosing the best material for a coat for Olaf the Snowman from Frozen. A very busy half term ahead!
Week beginning 19th November 2018
This week we are going to be thinking about the exciting character- Santa! We are starting the run up to Christmas by thinking about how we might help Santa if he got stuck in our chimney! We will then be writing wish lists ready to write our letters to Santa!

We have at the moment a lot of missing jumpers and cardigans. Please help by clearly labelling EVERYTHING! If it has a name in it is so easy to find and get back to the right person.
If you have lost a jumper or cardigan Miss Maw has a green box in her classroom, please come in at the end of the day too have a look.
On a Monday afternoon- full PE kit is needed please.
All children need a named water bottle in school
All children in Year 1 have a piece of fruit during the first part of the school morning.
