We hope you had a lovely, relaxing Easter holiday and ate lots of lovely Easter eggs :) We are ready for a busy Summer term with lots of fun activities planned!
Our topic this half term is:
Sun, Sea and Sand
In English this week (23.4.18) we are introducing the book 'Barry the Fish with Fingers' and getting to know the story. We will also be looking at the dialogue that takes place (or could take place!) between the characters and how this is represented in the book. We will be working hard to use speech marks in our own writing.
In maths this week (23.4.18) we are looking at missing number problems and how we can use the inverse to solve them.
In phonics this week, we are looking at compound words. This is where 2 root words are joined to make one longer word e.g. football, sunflower, lighthouse.
In PE, on a Friday morning, we are lucky enough to have a PE coach to assist in teaching our lessons. We have been learning 'ball, wall and tall' moves in Gymnastics. Last week we learnt lots of different 'ball' positions and started to sequence movements.
On Monday 19th February we came back to school to an 'Everybody Write's Day'. The purpose of the writing on this occasion was to make the reader laugh or feel happy. In year 2 we decided to look at positive Mr Men characters as inspiration to write our own Mr Men books! Children created their own Mr Men characters and became authors, writing their very own books! Everyone really enjoyed this activity and we finished the day, sharing our stories with the children in Early Years.
