Our topic for the Summer Term is -
'There's no place like home'
For the 2nd half of this Summer term we will be finding out about so many more interesting things in our local area.
Some of these things will be -
- Learning more about 'The Eynesbury Giant'
-Writing our own house adverts to put up in the local estate agents.
- A visit to Paxton Pitts with Mini beast hunts, pond dipping and fossil hunting.
-Preparing the sandwich that we have been planning last half term, and packing it up for our picnic in the park.
Week beginning 16th July
In English we will be writing our recounts on our trip to 'Paxton Pitts'
In Maths we will be working on written methods for Subtraction and Problem solving for addition and subtraction.
On Tuesday we will be having a DT day to prepare our planned sandwiches. We will then take them to the park to eat after lunch. Lunch will be as normal, but children will all need hats, water bottles and sun tan cream applied before school.
In English we have been reading the book 'Fig's Giant'. To help us empathise with Fig and the Giant, we dressed up as the characters and acted out scenes using thought bubbles and speech bubbles, to show how each character felt.
Our Monet Paintings so far.............
Take a look at our role play work from this term.
In English we focused on Imaginary Worlds. We read the story Fantastic Mr Fox.
The children made masks of their favourite character and then worked in groups to act out some of the scenes. They particularly enjoyed role playing the scene, when Mr Fox's tail got shot off by the farmers.
Things to look forward to this half term
Last half term we were yet again very busy and the children completed some fantastic work.
Here is some of the division work that Willow were doing on number lines. They began practically using cheerios for each group, and progressed to chunking in large groups.
In DT the children found out about Shadufs and how they were used in Ancient Egyptian Times.
They investigated , planned, and created their own. Here are a few.
In English we mummified Barbie dolls as well as each other and created instructions. The children had a lot of fun doing this.
