Well Monday has come around again and we are fast approaching the end of the spring term. Last week we had science week. We had lots of opportunities to learn about science and Monday kicked off with a fantastic assembly by James Boffin. Secret science investigator. We will be lucky enough to have James give us two lessons on the next two weeks!
In science we learned about our solar system and we were busy researching facts about the different planets. On Friday we had a mixture of fun doing practical experiments which include a coke can balance, tornado in a bottle and having a bucket of water above our heads without getting wet.
In maths, we looked at tables and reading time tables. Our homework is based on this.
In English, we looked at speeches and have written a draft speeches to perform later on today!

8th of March
The children have been busy writing lots of styles of writing to do with the book 'The day the crayons quit'.
This week the children have written to Duncan pretending to be a crayons, created a newspaper article, written a formal letter on behalf of the national union of crayons. Some Brilliant writing all around.
In Maths this week, we have been learning about statistics and line graphs. We have tried hard to answer questions about a line graph and have ago at making our own.
We have started our Art this week and we are hoping to create a rain forest piece in the style of Henri Rousseau.

9th of February
In English this week, we have analysed some of our poems and looked at free verse poetry. The children have written a poem based on the Structure of 'Wings' by Pie Corbett or a complete free verse poem. In maths, we have been looking at measures and converting them into different units of measure.
In D&T this week we have been designed and making shelters as is we were in the Rainforest. The children have really enjoyed making the shelters.
We have arranged a trip to Hamerton Zoo for after half term. Please make sure you pay £6 via parent pay. Friends of Bushmead have heavily subsidised this trip for us.

1st of February
This week in our English, we have been looking at poems by Pie Corbett and Valerie Bloom. We have looked at how the different poets use different structures and the language they use. Tomorrow they will have a go at writing in the style of Pie or Valerie.
In Maths, we have recapped time and measure. Look at converting 24 hr time to 12 hour times and converting length, weight and capacity measures.
In art, we have practised using a different medias to create different leaves. This will be used in the following weeks to create a Rainforest piece in the style of Henri Rousseau.
