Happy New Year! 2020!
We hope everyone has had a great Christmas holiday!
From myself and Mrs Dawson we would like to say a big thank you for all the lovely cards and presents sent in for us at Christmas, we greatly appreciated it and have been very spoilt!
This term in Year One our new topic is...
THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON
This Topic is red hot!!! It is about fire, safety, our capital city London and finding out what happened a very long time ago in 1666 when London caught fire starting in a small bakers shop in Pudding lane.Throughout the term the children will be learning how to stay safe and about the amazing job of the fire service. In Science the children will be investigating what happens when we heat different materials and why? Of course the famous story of the great fire takes place in a bakers shop so we plan to make our own bread and cakes to sell in the bakers shop. In Geography we will be thinking about where we live in St Neots and comparing this to London and its famous landmarks. In History we will be looking at the Tudor houses people lived in and making our own houses in Design Technology. In Art we will be creating our own London is burning landscapes by colour mixing and creating tudor house silhouettes. The children will also be introduced to the famous Samuel Pepys who 300 years ago saw the great fire of London and all the houses that got destroyed and wrote a diary to help us remember and learn about this awful fire.

Please could homework books be handed in by Wednesday, this allows time for teacher marking and preparing homework for the following week (there is a big red box in the classroom doorway) for the children to put their books in.
Please, please, please can you name all items of your children's uniform and their belongings. We work very hard everyday to help the children be independent and responsible for their things and if jumpers and cardigns are named we can find any lost items easily.
